About the event

Cajón Festival is a dynamic outdoor cultural experience that brings together music, rhythm, dance, and community in the heart of Charlotte. Taking place at Levine Plaza, in front of Mint Museum Uptown, on Sunday, August 2, 2026, the festival invites audiences of all backgrounds to explore the energy and artistic richness of Afro-Peruvian culture through live performances and interactive experiences.

Inspired by Peru’s iconic cajón — one of the most influential percussion instruments in Latin American music — the festival features live percussion, traditional dance, hands-on workshops, and community participation in an open and welcoming atmosphere.

Designed as a family-friendly cultural gathering, Cajón Festival celebrates artistic exchange, movement, and connection through rhythm and shared experience.

This event is made possible through the support of ASC, with the collaboration of the Consulate General of Peru in Atlanta and Mint Museum Uptown. Special thanks to our cultural partners Alicia’s Kitchen and La…
