Guateke Sessions is a dynamic music series created by La Casa de la Cultura to celebrate the rhythms, voices, and ancestral memory of Afro-Indigenous diasporas. Each session brings together local and emerging artists in a vibrant space filled with drums, song, and community—where tradition meets contemporary creativity.
Attendees can expect an engaging afternoon featuring live concerts and interactive dance workshops, designed to immerse the audience in the energy and cultural depth of these traditions.
This special session will take place on May 9 at 2:00 PM at the South Boulevard Library. The program will include a featured performance by Mauricio Salas and Angela Castillo, who will present a lively demonstration of the Peruvian cajón, inviting the audience to connect with rhythm in an interactive and memorable way.
